Pro-Israel group gives Timmerman “Defender of Israel” award

CIPAC awardKensington, MD – Oct 18, 2012 – A prominent pro-Israel group has given Republican Congressional candidate Ken Timmerman its premier “Defender of Israel” award.

The president of the Christians’ Israel Public Action Campaign, CIPAC, Richard A. Hellman, explained that his organization gave this award “in grateful recognition of your many contributions to strengthening the relationship between the United States of America and the land and the people of Israel.”

In a brief ceremony with the U.S. Capitol in the background, Helmann added: “ I think it’s appropriate that we’re right outside the Ronald Reagan building, because Ronald Reagan had the distinct qualities that you typify:  support for Israel, support for democracy, support for a strong defense, and much more.”

Previous recipients included Ambassador Jeane Kirkpatrick, and Senator Pat Moynihan, who was the first to introduce legislation to move the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, the capital of Israel.

“I’m honored by this Award and recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel is tremendously important to me,” Timmerman said. “I’m running against a member of Congress who does not seem to know that the capital of Israel is Jerusalem, that it has always been Jerusalem and that it is our duty as Americans and as Christians to ensure that it always will be Jerusalem.

“I will be a strong defender of a strong U.S.-Israel strategic relationship, as well as the moral and spiritual ties that bind our two nations together,” Timmerman said.
